What a week!

Our VBS has topped at over 500 children! Amazing!

I finally remembered to take my camera with me to visit some VBS rooms...so here they are.

After those, are pictures of the opening skit. Each day they continue with the story.
It's really a fun event! Thanks for hanging in there with me!

Hello everyone!

I am so sorry I haven't posted since Friday! LOL! I have been so busy with this VBS.

It is truly a wonderful event for our church. We had 485 pre-registered children! That is more than we have ever had. I am posting a picture of my VBS room. It's not to over the top. But I will get more pictures of other rooms posted tomorrow!

I just want to ask for prayers today. Please pray that all of the children who are attending our VBS see the love of God. Pray that they come to know Christ.

God is so Good in more ways than we can even imagine!

Thanks for stopping by!

Show and Tell...Friday

Kelli at There is no place like Home hosts Show & Tell Fridays.

Last week, I really didn't get the posting correctly so...I wanted to do it right this week.

Oh, and I haven't forgotten about VBS. I'll have to post about that one on Monday afternoon.

Here is my show & tell...

It is of the top of my china cabinet. Everything there has been given to me by my most charished family members. I display these so I can remember them daily.

The green sign was given by my little sister. It's a sister plaque with a sister greeting. My sister lives in Idaho...and is my best friend. I miss seeing her on a daily basis.

The orange vase is from my husband's grandmother. She and I got along pretty well.

Next is my grandmother's blue bowl. She ate breakfast out of that bowl until she passed away. It really means alot to me since, I know she really loved that bowl.

Let's see...the white pitcher was a gift from my mother in law. Wonderful lady...I couldn't ask for better. Then, there is the bird house. It belonged to my husband's grandfather. He passed away a few years ago. He was so good to me. I'll miss him too!

Lastly, is the orange compote it belonged to my mother. It sat on top of her china cabinet too! I wish I had a picture of that to show you. I'll have to look and see.

Anyway...that is my collection of loved ones. Family members I want to remember and those I want to keep in mind.

Thanks for stopping by today...Blessings to you!

Busy days before VBS

I've been so busy with the prep work for our church's VBS this week. From what I've been told our church's VBS is famous for how organized and wonderful it is. So, I'm trying to come through on that statement. LOL! Not very well...I'll add.

I peeked in on some of the VBS rooms. Oh My! is all I can say about it. Amazing decorations and ideas. I wish I had had my camera to take pictures. You know I'm going there later today...I take some to show you all.

This year we are using Gospel Light's SonWorld Adventure Park. Our room is decorated like a theme park...roller coster and some vending stands. Not totally over the top...I'm teaching 2's & 3's. Oh, did I mention our VBS is 2 weeks long!

I'll post more tomorrow.

Thanks to everyone who stopped by to visit and comment on my imperfect home!

Warning...imperfect home!

The Nester is ask those of us with imperfect homes to post our pictures. So, here goes!

This photo is of my "gallery" area. Not so gallery anymore...it's used as a place to air dry clothing. It also is used to house our homeschool supplies and a catch all that we need out of the way.

Next, is our entry way...kinda. It's where you enter from the entry-hallway...into our kitchen. The floor area has become a place where we all leave our bags. Oh, and there is a box of phonics curriculum. Yes, I keep curriculum everywhere!

Then there is my morning sink look. Our Bar area is always and has always been another catch all. More so this morning because I don't usually tidy up during the weekend. Notice the three water bottles. The pink and blue one are for the kids to squirt at each other in the back yard. (sometimes when I'm not looking....in the house) The green one...is a vinager mixture. That is for cleaning...and another post...LOL!

Next we venture into my "Great Room". I have a small home...so no formal anything. But as you can see...my wonderful hubby did the laundry. My husband does laundry at our home...God Bless that wonderful man!!!!! Every Monday morning I wake to see this....clean clothing ready for me to put away. It's like having a clean clothes fairy...I leave the clothes in the laundry room and POOF it's done in the morning. LOL! ok I'll stop bragging now.

Last but not least...my "reading/school/craft table" area. After a weekend of coloring and crafts...I always have major tidying to do there.

Pretty Bad...or Just Imperfect?

Gardening

Here's what I've been up to this morning. I hand tilled this. Yes, I took my shovel and dug. I now have two blisters on my hands. My feet hurt and I just know that I'll be sore tomorrow. I just felt like it wasn't right not to have tomatoes growing. I have grown them every year...except the year my son was born.

Well, as you can see, there is a tomato (beefsteak) and some basil. I'm also starting zuccini from seed. I will get some bell peppers the next time I'm at the nursery...maybe another tomato plant too! I figure since I'm home and, with nothing scheduled, (and Gas prices so high) I should get some of those things I've been meaning to do...done.

On another note...Can you feel sorry for a plant? This plant has been in a 4" plastic pot for over a year. Yes, this lovely geranium was stuck, almost never watered and love deprived. Today, I finally repotted it. I hope it doesn't die now...LOL!

Have a wonderful day everyone!!!

Home again

Well, we ended up coming back. We drove almost half way to our vacation destionation and had to turn around. Oh no, why? you might ask.
My daughter got the flu. She had not been feeling well and then threw-up in the car, on the way there. After that, continually asked if we could go home. She looked awful and we didn't have the heart to drive all the way there with her feeling sick.
So, I'm back. We are back. My husband and I don't go on vacations very often...almost never really. So, this was quite a disappointment...for all of us, including our kids. It was all they could talk about for several days. We will try again next month.
I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!

Finished project

I am really thrilled how well this current/finished project came out.

It's a small tote bag designed for a little girl. I was at Beverly's the other day and saw this Robert Kauffman fabric. It was so cute...Cupcakes! I wasn't going to embroider it at all.

But, then it hit me! I sketched this embroidery pattern out to match the fabric. Yep, I created the embroidery pattern! I didn't know it was something you could do. There is a super great Iron-On Transfer pen you can buy. And... Voila! ... Custom Iron-On transfer! I am going to list two of them in my Etsy shop. I was able to make 4 of them with 1/2 yard of fabric.

What do you think?

Carnations, Capes & Crowns...OH MY!

Carnations

I recently purchased a box of Carnation scented bath soap. I never thought I would love this scent so much. It reminds me of the Portuguese festas we used to go to…not to mention…that I was in! LOL! The scent brings back so many memories. All those corsages and bouquets of flowers. I could never forget the rhinestone tiaras, festas dresses and capes. Oh, we would walk all those miles from the Hall to the church and then, the church to the Hall.

My Mom and Grandmother made this cape together...I will treasure it always.

See blue carnations!

Ok...back to the carnation story...

Upon my first soap up in the shower, I hadn’t given this soap to much thought. Other than, Oh Boy! Now, I won’t smell like my husband’s soap. After that shower, I could smell the carnations everywhere. The scent permeated the house. I just felt good all day long. I just could not stop smelling the scent and it didn’t make me sick! LOL!

With all this remembering and smelling…I decided to go to the local nursery and purchase some of my very own carnation plants. I bought a florist variety called “Cinnamon Red Hot” it has a bit of the red hot’s scent. I also purchased some of the garden variety. They won’t grow with long stems…but they are all different colors…pink, red, yellow, white. They haven’t bloomed yet…when they do I’ll post a picture.

Until then, just the box of soap. By the way, I got them at Ross…LOL!

What’s your favorite scent? What does it make you remember?
Note: Portuguese festas are centered around the Catholic Religion.
I have not been a Catholic for some time now.
I don't want to confuse those who know me as a born again Christian woman.
