That time of year again!

I can't believe it's that time of year again! Graduation...school's out...summer! This time of year always makes me a little sad. All school is ending...some kids are going off to new schools next year and you won't see them as much or maybe ever. It reminds me that our kids are getting older...bigger...smarter. The weather is getting hot. Time to buy more popcles and ice cream...LOL!

Well, I guess I get a little excited about the other things...like watermelon and swim parties! All the fruit and veggies that are ripe and sweet. Vacations! Sitting out on the beach and reading all day. The flowers!

Ok now I'm just rambling...LOL!

Wishing you and yours a Wonderful Upcoming Summer!!!

God Rocks concert!

Last night we went to see the God Rocks concert. This is a wonderful band that's geared toward the 6 year olds to teen's crowd. They have music CD's and Cartoon DVD's...(books too)... that are so great. They teach bible verses with contemporary music. Well, my kids had a blast! And are still talking about it this morning. I took pictures last night but, I haven't uploaded them to my computer yet...sorry! I have to say I really enjoyed the concert myself.
If you haven't heard about the God Rocks...Please check them out. I think they are better than Veggie Tales. Their 1/2 hour Cartoon can be seen on the Daystar network on Saturday at 8:30am PST. But you can check your local listings for where you live. I really can't say enough good things about this video series. It has taught not only my children bible verses...but me too! LOL!
Not a ashamed to shout it...GOD ROCKS!

Long & Rainy Weekend

Hello Everyone!

First off...it was raining on Saturday and Sunday. We had 109 degree weather last weekend. This weekend, I had to pull out long sleeve shirts! Can you believe that one? This weather is totally crazy.

I finished another embroidery piece. It is of a rose for my "rose tote bag" I haven't added it yet...but I just wanted you all to see my finished piece.

Since this weekend was rainy, I had time to work on a table square. It has a total of 4 embroidery pieces on it. One in each corner. Two are tea pots and the other two are tea cups. The transfer I used was from the yard sale find...but the "tea cup" transfer didn't work...so, I have to find another one. I've seen it around...so, it shouldn't be to hard to find. I finished one of the "tea pot" corners today....I don't have a picture of that. I'll post it when I am totally finished with the table square.

I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday.
Mine was pretty good...Thank you Jesus!
Well, off to bed I go...

WARNING...lots of pictures

Here are my embroidery pictures.

This is my yard sale find.

This is my first try at embroidery.

I just completed this one.
I am going to sew these on the fronts of my dish towel tote bags that, I haven't sold on my Etsy shop.

These are my Mother's work.

I think she used Crewel thread for these. But I can't be sure. These are so pretty in person. I don't take pictures very well...so sorry if you can't see the detail.

Thanks for viewing. Please let me know what you think about my embroidery...any advice or suggestion would be very helpful!!!

Yard sale finds & a new hobby

I have been wanting to embroider for awhile. So I decided to go out to the garage and pull out my mothers old embroidery patters. I didn't keep very many of them. I wish I had.
I decided to pull out one of her pillow cases she made....OH MY! I did really appreciate the work until now. She could embroider like an embroidery machine! I about fell over when I looked at it. My embroidery is no where near hers...and I thought it would be...HAHAHA!
Ok, so I went out to yard sale on Saturday morning. I didn't find much but, what I did find was a box of over 100 iron tranfer patterns! Yeah! I paid $4.00 for the box. Some of the patterns are not the iron transfer ones...you have to trace them...but that is ok. Most are the iron transfer and some were from the 1940's & 1950's. I was pretty happy.
I don't have any pictures of my embroidery yet or the patterns....but I'll post some later today!
Thanks for hanging in with me!!!

Too Hot...Too Soon!

I found out the other day that it was going to be 101 degrees where I live on Saturday & Sunday. I told my husband that I can't imagine it to really happen. It hasn't happend since 1997. Well, guess what everyone...it's perdicted to get to 102 today.
I am so not ready for this kind of weather yet. I figured in about two weeks...but not in mid May. Alright enough with the weather.
As some of you know I LOVE to send cards. The other night I was checking online for a good deal on paper to write on. I came across this great store...Paper.com. I have to tell you...I was pretty impressed with the selection and prices. They are currently having a promo right now so, I posted the wiget off in the right side bar. I know some of you make cards and wanted you to get on the deal.
I am planning on going yard saleing this weekend...so come back to check on my finds. I really hope I can get some good ones...LOL!!!

Book Review

I just finished a new book put out by Kirk Cameron. I have to say I enjoyed it. I haven't read a book, cover to cover, in one day...in a really long time. Yesturday, being that it was Mother's day, I chose to sit and read. I had actually found this book in the new arrivals section of our local library. I picked it up for my husband to read....he was quite a fan of Growing Pains. I was too...but I was a little younger then my husband. Most of the sitcom content was a little lost on me.

I found it facinating to read about all that was going on during this "eventful" time in his life. I would have guessed him to have been more like the "brat pack". But, he wasn't. I have to say Kirk was and is (in my opinion) one of the only young actors who stayed grounded.

He has a wonderful heart for the Lord! He paints a wonderful picture of his family....I would someday love to meet. Six kids! Wow! You go Kirk & Chelsea!

If you are looking for a great read to take on a summer vacation ...this is the book.

It sounds like I'm trying to sell the book...not really...but if I read something good, I like to tell people about it. I did however, post a wiget of the book on my sidebar....so you know what the book looks like.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Mother's day...I sure did!!!

Blessings to you!

My Grandmother's Roses

I looked high and low. Then, I checked out David Austin's selection of Roses and found them!
Yes, here are roses that are so simular to my grandmothers....well, I could have taken them from her garden. I found them!!! I didn't think I would...but I did.

Thank you God!!!

I hope seeing my grandmother's roses brings a smile to your face and happiness to our heart.

It sure does for me.

Have a wonderful day everyone!!!

Bible Verse....

Brought to you by A Soft Place to Land

My soul finds rest in God alone;
my salvation comes from him.
He alone is my rock and my salvation;
he is my fortress,
I will never be shaken.
Psalm 62: 1-2

My library trip.

I just had to comment about my recent library trip. I am kinda still upset about it. So here goes...

I went to the library to get a Flat Stanley book. The only reason we went to the library was to get this book. Well, I got there and asked the librarian where and if they had it. Yes, she says and we go and get it. Well, my son got very excited about it and wanted to look at it. So, I let him take it. Some else came in and swiped it from him! They waited for him to but the book down and took it! Yes! They had over heard me asking for it...waited and checked it out.

I couldn't believe it. I felt really bad because, I had blamed him for putting the book in an "unknown" location on a book shelf. Well, turns out some on actually swiped it and checked it out.

I was just floored that someone would do that. You know... I wondered why the children's library mysteriously got empty and quite.

I know...my name wasn't on the book. Now, I have to wait 21 days to get it. I was going to start Today, using it for a social studies curriculum. But I guess it will have to wait...until next school year...LOL! Our school year ends on May 30. Right about the time when the book is due back. So there goes my plans.

Ok enough ranting.

On another note...Hair Bow Diva has a blog and has featured my Etsy shop in an article. To see it please visit it at http://www.hairbowdiva.blogspot.com
And let me know what you think!

Thanks for haning in there with me!
