Sorry for not posting recently. I've had a flu that has taken my voice and given me dizzy spells. I went to the Dr. and he told me that the dizzy spells are probably from the ear infection I had...LOL! He also said that I wouldn't get my full hearing back for two weeks! Yikes. I've been taking my RX and now am feeling pretty good.
Well for that last hour I've been searching for bridal trims to sew on my Wedding bags/purses. I have come up short in going to my local fabric stores. They have all done away with bridal trims and appliques. Online, I haven't been able to find anything unique or simple enough to embellish. I did find some really beautiful ones....in London, England! I might try emailing them...but to tell you the truth...I'll pay more than I want to. And why is it that we don't have anything here that nice? Shouldn't I be able to find something in New York or LA?
If anyone has any suggestions...Please let me know.
I hope your weekend goes well! Thanks for the visit. My giveaway post will be on Tuesday.

Rosetta Stone Contest!
I am posting about this wonderful language program. They are currently having a contest and in order to win you need to post about it. So here it is. Of Course...I want the Portuguese version...LOL!!!
Rosetta Stone has been the #1 foreign language curriculum among homeschoolers for a while -- next week they are unleashing a brand new curriculum, and you can WIN the *all new* Rosetta Stone Homeschool Version 3… FOR FREE!
This is a $219 program (and believe me it's worth every penny!) and the winner gets to pick from any of these 14 languages: Spanish (Spain or Latin America), English (American or British), Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Irish, Hebrew, or Russian.
This will also include a headset with microphone, and students will participate in lifelike conversations and actually produce language to advance through the program. Rosetta Stone still incorporates listening, reading and writing as well, in addition to speaking. Many homeschoolers requested grammar and vocabulary exercises, and with Rosetta Stone Homeschool Version 3, they're included! For parents, the new Parent Administrative Tools are integrated into the program and allow parents to easily enroll students in any of 12 predetermined lesson plans, monitor student progress, and view and print reports.
To win this most excellent program -- in the language of your choice -- copy these (blue) paragraphs and post it in (or as) your next blog post -- then to enter the contest, go to the original contest page HERE: http://www.homeschoolblogger.com/JenIG/501132/ and leave a comment with the link showing where you blogged about it. And please make sure the link works to get back to the original contest page when you post it. And good luck! The winner will be picked randomly on March 26, and will be notified thru the link they left to their blog pg. And if you have more than one blog, you can post them and enter those separately for more chances to win. Yay for free stuff!

Another installment...
The photo I am attaching is very blurry. But I wanted you all to see my grandmother in front of her beloved roses. This photo was taken on Mother's Day ...I think in 1980 maybe 1981. What you can't see in the photo is she is wearing an Orchid corsage. My mom would always get my grandmother and herself one to wear to church on Mother's day. That is something we don't really do nowadays. It used to be women wore corsages for many different events. Now it is reserved for just proms and weddings. I had intended to get Gram a corsage last year...just like the one in the picture. But...I couldn't find one. The one she was wearing... is the ones you get at the grocery store ...they come in a box. LOL! I know...I should have just ordered one. But it wouldn't have been the same. We grew up so simply. I don't remember my parents or grandparents being materialistic. We had what we had. And when it was time for something new...we saved and got something that was good quality and would last. There was no...is it the "style" right now. Nothing we had matched very well...but that was ok. It didn't have to.
I miss those days. I miss my Avo. ( ah-va ) (that's grandmother in Portuguese)

Have a great day! Susan

Thanks Everyone!
Just a quick post to Thank everyone who signed the petition. It looks like our Govenenor and State Superintendent of Public Instruction agree that Homeschooling in CA is not hurting anyone. They support Homeschooling!!! Which is great...I hope we can get some Sentor or Congressman to write some law to secure it. We will have to see.
Thanks again to everyone. I have a long list of house work to do... so when I'm done, I'll post more about fun things LOL!!!
Have a great day!

Parental rights....this is every parents issue
I ask that you read this post completely....especially if you are a parent, a parent anywhere in the US and have children in public school.
For those who haven't guessed. I am a homeschooling Mom. It has come to my attention that in California (where I live) ...A California Court of Appeal recently decided that homeschooling is illegal in California unless a parent is a certified teacher.
I am not that...nor is most parents who choose this option. What people don't realize is, when a law is passed in California or a ruling in the court of appeal...the REST of the USA usually follows suite. That means like with the smoking ban...which started here...this will eventually happen to you...as a parent.
There already is a ruling that states once your child is enrolled in a public school in the western states (9th court district) YOU as a parent have NO right to what is being taught to your child. Yes, you read it correctly!!! That means if they decide to teach sex ed to your 1st grader...they can!!! Shocking isn't it. And they don't have to send home a form asking permission.
So I ask as a parent to please visit Focus on the Families web site www.family.org ...listen to Dr.Dobson's broadcast about this issue and then sign the petition at www.HSLDA.org
It's not just about Homeschooling...it's about losing our rights as parents to parent our children...as we see fit!!!!
Thanks everyone for hanging in there with this post!!!

Estate saleing again!
I did get to go to an Estate sale on Saturday. I found some great fabric there. I also went to an Antique store that I had never visited. I purchased some great vintage pins and decorative plates to sell in my shop. I think I'll go back to check out the store next door that I didn't get to go in to! LOL!
I went over to Ross in search for some DVD's for my kids. But what I found was even better.
They are having a huge clearance sale on Furniture. I bought a half circle cast iron table for $14.00 originally $45.00. it wasn't the color I wanted so I spray painted it black. And since I had the spray out...LOL! I painted several of my clay pots and a plastic one too. I think Nester would be proud of me.
We are suppost to get our new windows this week. I say suppost because they called to say they may have to bump us back to next week. Ggrr! This week would be perfect because I have no plans to leave, not appointments to go to. I sure hope it gets done this week.
That's about all for my life. I hope everyone has a wonderful day!!!
